We adore our competitors.
They highlight how sophisticated clickdensity is.
A few competitors have emerged since we launched in June 2006, which bravely attempt to emulate the clickdensity experience.
We encourage you to try them out; here are a few pointers to look out for:
How easy is it to analyze your entire site?
If you're running anything bigger than a blog, you'll probably want to perform analysis on a number of pages (at least your key pages).
With clickdensity, you just have to include the javascript snippet in your site template, and you're done. You can then easily navigate through your site in the reporting interface, performing analysis as you navigate. Some competitors seem to think that you'd prefer to set-up and configure each page separately.
How does it handle regularly updated pages?
If you regularly update your content, to better serve your users, then the position of content on your pages will move over time.
With clickdensity, you can simply check the "Follow Targets" checkbox in the reporting interface, to ensure that all data is plotted relative to the item that was clicked on - even if it has moved. Any product which doesn't support page updates isn't just limited, it is potentially implying erroneous results.
How well does it handle different types of URL?
clickdensity supports HTTPS, an unlimited number of sub-domains, and all kinds of query strings (including the option to ignore query strings on certain pages, if applicable). As if that's not enough, we also have our Virtual Pages functionality, which allows you to programmatically record clicks against uniquely identifiable reports. So, for instance, if you have the same URL that has two different pages delivered dynamically from your server, you can record these against different 'virtual pages'.
How often does the product get updated?
On average, we've added valuable new functionality to clickdensity every six weeks since launch (check the blog for details), and we aim to release even more frequently in the coming months. Our competitors seem to talk-the-talk, but don't really walk-the-walk.
How much does it cost?
Competing on price isn't one of our tactics (that's usually a dangerous route that leads to poor support and stale products), but it just so happens that clickdensity offers some of the best value packages on the market!
Other products might offer long-term free packages, but as the cliché goes, nothing is ever free. "Free" accounts take up resource and support, which need to be subsidised by paying customers. We offer a 30 day trial, but don't offer long-term free accounts, so that we can instead invest more money in product development and outstanding support.
How well do they listen to you, with support and suggestions?
We've consistently prioritised feature development, and updated our packages, based on your feedback (which we very much appreciate). We also have a great track record for support, which comes directly from a talented software development team that's been producing quality software for nearly 10 years.
What reporting features do they have available?
clickdensity features so much more than simple heat maps. We have easy to use click maps, which can be used to easily identify "false links". Our reports are completely customisable, allowing you to segment and filter on a number of user variables, such as screen size, browser/platform, date, and user paths. We introduced the concept of ‘click time' in this type of analysis, and let you track how heat maps change with click time. Our hover maps show individual element usage, average times, and graphs of how quickly people click for each element.
How can you use their results?
We have an easy to use exporting option, which includes any filtering information, so that you can easily use the reports in presentations and documents. The clickdensity integrated A/B Testing suite is unsurpassed, allowing to you very easily (and accessibly) test - and scientifically evaluate - changes to content, graphics, and positioning.
Do they really care about what they're doing?
We have a genuine enthusiasm for this area of usability and analytics. In fact, "enthusiasm" is a dramatic understatement; we are worryingly passionate about this field of research, and spend many nights awake, our brains buzzing with ideas and solutions. Check out the blog for extracts of our previous research. You can rest assured that clickdensity will continue to lead the innovation in this field.
